Export prices in Australia were flat on quarter in the third quarter of 2015, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday.

That was shy of forecasts for an increase of 0.6 percent following the 4.4 percent decline in the second quarter.

Among the individual components, prices for food and manufactured exports both climbed 5.2 percent, followed by chemicals (2.4 percent) and transport equipment (1.8 percent).

Prices for vegetable oils fell 8.1 percent, while manufactured goods were down 7.6 percent, beverages and crude materials fell 0.9 percent and commodities were down 0.7 percent.

Import prices advanced 1.4 percent on quarter, also shy of forecasts for an increase of 1.5 percent although unchanged from the three months prior.

Individually, prices for chemical imports were up 5.9 percent, followed by vegetable oils (5.5 percent), manufactured articles (3.7 percent), transport equipment (3.2 percent), food (2.8 percent) and commodities (1.0 percent).

Prices for mineral fuels tumbled 10.7 percent and crude materials were down 2.9 percent.

On a yearly basis, export prices tumbled 5.2 percent and import prices advanced 3.5 percent.

Individually, export prices for crude material exports tumbled 13.4 percent, while mineral fuels were down 10.1 percent and manufactured goods fell 4.9 percent.

Export prices for manufactured articles jumped 12.8 percent, followed by transport equipment (12.5 percent), food (9.3 percent), chemicals (8.7 percent) and vegetable oils (3.9 percent).

Import prices for vegetable oil jumped 16.8 percent, followed by manufactured articles (15.4 percent), transport equipment (12.6 percent) and food (6.6 percent).

Prices for mineral fuels plummeted 31.8 percent.
