Private sector credit in Australia added 0.4 percent on month in May, the Reserve Bank of Australia said on Thursday – missing forecasts for 0.5 percent, which would have been unchanged from the April reading.

On a yearly basis, credit advanced 6.5 percent – also beneath expectations for 6.7 percent, which again would have been unchanged.

Individually, housing credit was up 0.5 percent on month and 6.9 percent on year, while personal credit dipped 0.1 percent on month and 1.1 percent on year and business credit added 0.3 percent on month and 7.1 percent on year.

The M3 money stock gained 0.3 percent on month and 6.1 percent on year, while broad money was up 0.3 percent on month and 6.3 percent on year.
