Bulgaria’s current account deficit increased in February from a year ago, preliminary figures from the Bulgarian National Bank showed Friday.

The current account deficit rose to EUR 161 million in February from EUR 137.4 million in the same month of the previous year.

The goods trade deficit widened to EUR 187.4 million in February from EUR 142.8 million a year ago. At the same time, surplus on services trade shrank to EUR 82.7 million from EUR 123.0 million.

Surplus in the capital account totaled EUR 55.7 million in February, down from EUR 108.9 million in the corresponding month last year.

Meanwhile, financial account balance turned to a surplus of EUR 101 million in February from a deficit of EUR 137.4 million a year earlier.
