Government spending rose ahead of fiscal year-end
The Canadian government was blatantly trying to push up spending in March in order to avoid reporting a balanced budget for the year. The reason is that the new government, led by Justin Trudeau, wanted to avoid the optics of inheriting and squandering a balanced budget.
