Davidoff Escurio Cigars Launch in Miami Beach

Davidoff launch the new Escurio Cigar line in grand style last night on Lincoln Rd in South Beach.

The event brought together cigar connoisseurs from around Miami as well as a number of out of state and international visitors.

Local leading businessman and cigar lover John Peddie gave the Escurio the thumbs up as did oil and gas CEO Clark Morten.

Even Sunny Suwunnavid CEO of the Heffernan Group of Companies enjoyed an Escurio.

The Davidoff Escurio three-line release is scheduled for retail this summer using an Ecuadorian wrapper over a filler of Brazilian and Dominican tobacco. Escurio offers a Short Robusto (3 1/4 x 50), Robusto (4 1/2 x 54) and Gran Toro (5 1/2 x 58).

The Robusto size will be packaged in tubos, and pricing is likely to start just under the $10 mark for the smallest size.

Like the Davidoff Nicaragua, the new line is rolled in the Dominican Republic, the product of Davidoff’s blending team—spearheaded by Henke Kelner and Eladio Diaz. It says the blend was created to be “spicy sweet.”

In a recent report by Cigar Aficionado, the name Escurio is derived from two words “Escuro” (the Portuguese word for “dark” or “oscuro”) and Rio (i.e. Rio De Janiero, the city in Brazil that inspired this blend).

The cigar will be an extension of Davidoff “Black Label” – a line that currently includes Davidoff Nicaragua.

Here are the details of the Davidoff Escurio as reported by Cigar Aficionado:

Blend Profile

The cigar is not a Brazilian puro, but contains a good amount of Brazilian tobacco in the blend. The wrapper of the Davidoff Escurio is described as “dark” Ecuadorian Havana.

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Havana
Binder: Brazilian
Filler: Nicaraguan, Brazilian (Cubra and Mata Fina)
Country of Origin: Dominican Republic.
