Denmark’s unemployment rate dropped for the second straight month in August, though slightly, figures from Statistics Denmark showed Wednesday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate fell to 4.5 percent in August from 4.6 percent in the previous month. A year earlier, the unemployment rate was 5.0 percent.

The latest unemployment rate was the lowest since April 2009, when it marked 4.4 percent.

The number of unemployed people decreased to 120,800 in August from 123,100 in the preceding month.

The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 16 to 24 age group, dropped marginally to 3.0 percent in August from 3.1 percent in July.
