FXStreet (Córdoba) – At the final press conference after the Eurogroup and the Eurogroup minus Greece meetings, Eurogroup head Jeroen Dijsselbloem said the 18 eurozone finance ministers discussed “our strong determination to ensure the strength of our monetary union”.

“We will use all the instruments at our disposal to ensure financial stability, alongside the ECB.
The eurogroup still consists of 19 members”, he stresses.

The expiry of the EFSF financial arrangement requires measures from the Greek authorities to safeguard stability. “And we stand ready to support Greece if and when required, after the programme expires”. He stated that many scenarios are conceivable now.

“The program will expire on Tuesday, all other options are open”.

He stressed several times that it was the Greek government who walked out of negotiations while they were still going on. The decision to break off talks last night and call a referendum was untimely, so why should we allow more time, Dijsselbloem asks.

When asked about contagion he said the Eurozone institutions are ready to take any action needed. When asked about next Eurogroup meeting, he answered they will continue to monitor developments and reconvene when necessary.
