House prices in England/Wales grew at the fastest pace in nearly one year in December, figures from Land Registry showed Friday.

House prices climbed 6.4 percent year-over-year in December, faster than the 5.4 percent increase in the previous month.

The latest rate of inflation was the highest since January 2015, when prices had risen 6.6 percent.

The average house prices in England and Wales totaled GBP 188,270.

On a monthly basis, house prices went up 1.2 percent in December, following a 0.3 percent rise in the preceding month.

The regional data showed that London experienced the greatest increase in its average property value over the last 12 months with a movement of 12.4 percent.
