French consumer sentiment remained unchanged in November, survey data from the statistical office Insee showed Wednesday.
The consumer confidence index came in at 96, the same as in October. It was expected to fall to 95 in November.
The statistical office said the survey was carried out between October 28 and November 17. Only 7 percent of respondents answered after the November 13 attacks.
Households’ opinion of their past financial situation was the same as in October, with the score remaining at -24 percent. Their opinion concerning their future financial situation weakened slightly. The corresponding index slid to -11 percent from -10 percent.
Households’ opinion of their saving capacity improved slightly. The balance concerning their current saving capacity gained 2 points to 10 percent. The one concerning their future saving capacity rose slightly, with the index rising to -4 percent from -5 percent.
The index for the past standard of living rose to -53 percent from -54 percent. At the same time, their appreciation on the future standard of living was stable. The score was -30 percent.
The fears of households concerning unemployment decreased sharply, after having grown in the previous month. The corresponding balance diminished by 24 points to 36 percent in November, the lowest level since June 2011.
