Italy’s producer prices declined at faster pace in August, largely due to cheaper energy prices, figures from the statistical office Istat showed Wednesday.

The producer price index dipped 2.9 percent year-over-year in August, following a 2.3 percent decrease in the previous month. In June, producer prices had fallen 2.2 percent.

Domestic market producer prices fell 3.6 percent in August from a year ago and foreign market prices dropped by 0.8 percent.

On a monthly basis, producer prices went down 0.7 percent in August, which was worse than July’s 0.5 percent fall. It was the third consecutive monthly decline.
