Japan’s auto production declined for 16 consecutive months in October but the pace of decrease slowed, Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said Monday.

Automobile production dropped 0.5 percent or 3,970 units from last year in October. Production had fallen 2.6 percent in September.

Meanwhile, exports climbed 3.8 percent, which was the second consecutive annual rise.

At the same time, motorcycle production plunged 17.5 percent on a yearly basis. Likewise, exports of motorcycle fell sharply by 19.9 percent. Exports had decreased for five straight months.
