Capital spending in Japan spiked 11.2 percent on quarter in the third quarter of 2015, the Ministry of Finance said on Tuesday.

That blew away forecasts for an increase of 2.2 percent and jumped from 5.6 percent in the three months prior.

Excluding software, capital spending again surged 11.2 percent versus forecasts for 1.7 percent and up from 6.6 percent in Q2.

Company profits climbed 9.0 percent in Q3, slowing from the 23.8 percent surge in the second quarter. Company sales added 0.1 percent on quarter after adding 1.1 percent in Q2.
