Japan’s consumer prices increased as expected in October, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said on Friday.

The overall consumer price index climbed 0.3 percent year-over-year in October, in line with expectations.

Excluding fresh food, consumer prices dropped 0.1 percent annually in October, as expected by economists.

Core consumer prices, which excludes energy and food, climbed 0.7 percent on year, below economists’s expectations for a 0.8 percent rise.
