The jobless rate in Japan came in at a seasonally adjusted 3.3 percent in December, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said on Friday – in line with expectations and unchanged from the previous month.

The job-to-applicant ratio was 1.27 – touching a 25-year high. That beat expectations for 1.26 and was up from 1.25 in the previous month.

The number of employed persons in December was 63.85 million, an increase of 280,000 or 0.4 percent on year.

The number of unemployed persons in December was 2.04 million, a decrease of 60,000 or 2.9 percent on year.
