Low paying employers were the ones doing the hiring
The WJS breaks down the jobs report by sector and reports:
"The single-largest category was leisure and hospitality, which added 59,000 jobs in June. This is also the single-worst paying sector… Average hourly earnings for this group were $12.83 last month. Multiply the weekly number by 52 weeks, and you get $16,600."
