Malta’s producer prices dropped for the third straight month in March, figures from the National Statistics Office showed Tuesday.

The industrial producer price index fell 2.33 percent year-over-year in March, slightly slower than previous month’s 2.58 percent decrease.

Prices in the energy sector declined 6.98 percent in March from the previous year and that for intermediate goods went down by 4.51 percent.

Domestic market producer prices slid 2.0 percent annually in March and foreign market prices also dipped by 2.50 percent.

Month-on-month, producer prices edged up 0.38 percent in March, in contrast to a 1.82 percent fall in February. It was first increase in three months. Both domestic and foreign market prices increased by 0.13 percent and 0.56 percent, respectively.
