Malta’s jobless rate decreased in the three months ended March from a year ago, figures from the National Statistics Office showed Monday.
The unemployment rate dropped to 4.9 percent in the first quarter from 5.7 percent in the corresponding period last year.
The number of unemployed people fell to 9,698 in the March quarter from 11,014 in the same period of 2015.
At the same time, the employment rate came in at 64.3 percent in first quarter, up from 62.5 percent a year earlier.
