Malta’s Unemployment rate decreased in the three months ended September from a year ago, figures from the National Statistics Office showed Tuesday.

The unemployment rate fell to 5.3 percent in the third quarter from 5.9 percent in the corresponding period last year.

The number of unemployed people decreased to 10,485 in the September quarter from 11,450 a year earlier.

At the same time, the employment rate came in at 65.2 percent in the three-month period to September, up from 63.5 percent in the same period of the previous year.
