The total number of building permits issued in New Zealand was up 10.8 percent on year in February, Statistics New Zealand said on Wednesday – coming in at 2,379.

That follows the 8.2 percent contraction in January.

The actual value of building work consented in February was NZ$1.4 billion.

Residential work was up NZ$308 million (40 percent on year) to NZ$1.1 billion, while non-residential work was down NZ$99 million (21 percent) to NZ$372 million.
