The total number of building permits issued in South Korea was down a seasonally adjusted 0.9 percent on month in May, Statistics New Zealand said on Thursday – coming in at 2,520.

That follows the upwardly revised 6.8 percent spike in the previous month (originally 6.6 percent).

Individually, permits were issued for 1,956 houses (the highest number since August 2007); 327 townhouses, flats, and units; 121 retirement village units; and 116 apartments.

The actual value of building work consented in May was NZ$1.6 billion.
