The pound retreated from its previous highs against the other major currencies in early European deals on Wednesday.
The pound pared gains to 1.4812 against the greenback, 1.4678 against the franc, 178.32 against the yen and 0.7384 against the euro, from its previous highs of 1.4844, 1.4727, 178.77 and 0.7364, respectively.
