Apple Inc. is planning to prolong the product cycle of its iPhone, saying it might take the company approximately three years to redesign their devices.

Normally, a phone will undergo a major upgrade after two years. But the modifications on the model, to be unveiled this autumn, will be minimal including enhanced camera quality.

In production timetable given to suppliers, the tech giant anticipated unit sales to decline in 2016. Last year, Apple delivered around 230 million phones.

But the 2017 model will showcase huge improvements and design overhauls such as an organic electroluminescent display.

Suppliers in Asia, including Japan and Taiwan, will be significantly affected by Apple’s move because of heavy dependence on iPhone manufacturing.
