Prime News: German retail sales inch higher than projected

Germany’s retail sales surged surpassed estimations, implying a solid start to 2016, official figures showed.

According to Destatis, retail sales climbed 0.7% in January following a 0.6% rise in December. But annual retail sales dropped 0.8% from a year ago.

Destatis added January 2016 had 25 shopping days, unlike January 2015 with 26 shopping days.
