Takata Corp. disclosed 5.1 million US vehicles have faulty air bag inflators, saying an 11th death could be tied to a defective air bag.

Majority of the vehicles in previous recalls were older types. But the new recalls include certain 2014 models. Takata said newer cars were still being looked into and could be recalled at a later date.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Japanese company’s expanded recall was about to happen. However, the US regulator did not clarify the number of cars and the automakers entangled with recalls for 2014 vehicles.
