Consumer prices in South Korea were up 0.8 percent on year in June, Statistics Korea said on Friday – unchanged from the previous month and beneath expectations for 0.9 percent.

On a monthly basis, inflation was flat – beneath forecasts for 0.2 percent and unchanged from the May reading.

Core inflation, which excludes the volatile prices of fresh food, climbed an annual 1.7 percent – slowing from 1.9 percent a month earlier.

On a monthly basis, core CPI was flat – slowing from 0.2 percent in May.
