Spain’s consumer prices declined for the tenth consecutive month in April, flash data from the statistical office INE showed Thursday.

Consumer prices fell 0.6 percent year-on-year in April in line with expectations but slightly slower than a 0.7 percent drop seen in March.

Month-on-month, the CPI gained 1 percent in April, slightly faster than a 0.9 percent rise forecast by economists and 0.6 percent increase a month ago.

The harmonized index of consumer prices declined 0.7 percent from last year versus March’s 0.8 percent fall. The annual rate of decline matched economists’ expectations.

On a monthly basis, the HICP gained 0.7 percent in April as expected by economists but slower than last month’s 2 percent growth.
