House Speaker John Boehner announced Friday that he will resign his seat in Congress at the end of October and exit the lower chamber after 25 years.
Mr. Boehner was facing a certain floor vote this Fall that would have ousted him from the powerful Speaker position.
Below are 7 reasons Mr. Boehner’s almost 5-year run left him embattled in his own party, bringing about his resignation Friday, as follows;
1. He is unpopular among conservative voters.
2. His frequent crying does not instill confidence.
3. He lost his Obamacare arguments in the media.
4. He has been slow to react to political opportunities.
5. He has a record of voting to inflate the nation’s debt.
6. He is unlikely to fight for defunding Planned Parenthood this Fall.
7. He worked with Democrats to pass the “Cromnibus” bill funding Barack Hussein Obama’s immigration plans.
