Capital Economics hikes US GDP forecasts for 2017
Economist Paul Ashworth at Capital Economics raised his 2017 GDP forecast to 2.7% from 2.0%.
He sees the "prospect of a major fiscal stimulus" he writes. "Our new forecasts are based on the assumption that Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress agree on a fiscal package worth around $4trn over the next decade, equivalent to 2.4% of GDP per year."
