Cyprus’ EU measure of inflation continued to decline in August, though at a slower pace than in the previous month, figures from the Statistical Service showed Tuesday.

The harmonized index of consumer prices fell 1.9 percent year-over-year in August, following a 2.4 percent decrease in July. Prices have been falling since December last year.

Utility costs plunged 10.4 percent in August from a year ago and prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages dropped by 2.0 percent.

Transport costs went down 2.5 percent in August, while costs for communication grew by 0.5 percent.
