Donald Trump Met RNC Chairman For “Unity” Confirmations
Donald Trump says that he does not believe that the Republican National Committee (RNC) will change the rules on the convention floor in Cleveland in July to deny him the party’s presidential nomination if he gets the required 1,237 delegates.
“No, that won’t happen,” he said in a TV interview. “We have millions of people more than anybody else.
“I have millions and millions more people than anybody else,” he said, referring to the large numbers of voters who have been turning out so far in state contests. “Lines are blocks long. It’s amazing.
“I don’t think anybody would think about playing around with that,” Donald Trump said.
“If we are millions of votes ahead of everyone else and hundreds of delegates ahead of everyone else, I really think that whoever has that kind of an advantage should get it,” he later added. “I think it’s awfully hard to take that away.”
Donald Trump’s interview came after he met with RNC Chairman Reince Priebus for a unity meeting Thursday in Washington, DC.
Donald Trump called it “a very good meeting. Actually a terrific meeting, I think. It was really a unity meeting.
“We are leading by a lot”
“We have far and away the most delegates. Millions and millions of votes more than Ted has, than Kasich has.
“I think they wanted it to really discuss unity — and I like discussing unity, too.”
RNC Chairman Reince Priebus made clear Thursday that the party’s presidential nominee is going to be 1 of the candidates currently vying for the position.
“They have all agreed to do that by virtue, in one case, by signing our data agreement,” Mr. Priebus said. “It gives candidates access to the party’s vast national voter database.”
“Our party exists,” Mr. Priebus said. “And one of them is going to be our nominee.”
