Donald Trump Shakes Up GOP, Dominates 1st Debate

Donald Trump dominated the 1st debate Thursday night in Cleveland, Ohio, he fended off hostile “how often do you beat your wife” questions from the the Fox News’ hosts. He led off by letting the GOP know in no uncertain terms he has the leverage and will wield it to his best advantage.

Donald Trump is a powerful TV personality, he shined and reinforced the image that he is the can do, tough candidate who can face the challenges of the US Presidency and is not intimidated by the press.

Former Florida Jeb Bush fell short in the debate setting, he is not a TV personality and looked very uncomfortable, though he held his own, the other candidates were better. He needed to demonstrate that is a superior candidate from not only than the others but his brother and his father, he failed to do that.

Chris Christie (R-NJ) positioned himself well as an establishment candidate, he looked to be very prepared and in-charge, and more passionate about his plans to fix the country, though he will not be the nominee or a running mate.

Gov. Kasich (R-OH) came on strong. His claim to Ohio’s success and the GOP’s balance budgets in the 1990’s were strong. Though he is out of step with the base on social and welfare issues. He looked like he was playing up to Donald Trump in hopes of being chosen as his running mate..

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) helped his image and did better than I expected. Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) did fine too. But does not look presidential.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) bolster his conservative markings,  and was intent in scoring points with the Christian right, Key to winning Iowa.

Dr, Ben Carson was super, he is principled and decent man. He stood out, accomplished, and with a sense of humor. He may rise to the Top as a choice for Donald Trump’s VP when he is nominated.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is way too different for the GOP to embrace, he made some excellent points and “preached” hard truths. Sen. Paul is not presidential, though that is what his father groomed him to be.

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AK), a TV personality, communicated his support of Social Security and Medicare are probably the smartest thing any Republican can do. He is not presidential either.

Trumpeting for Trump
