Ireland’s unemployment rate decreased for the third consecutive month in February, but marginally, figures from the Central Statistics Office showed on Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate dropped to 8.8 percent in February from 8.9 percent in January.

In the corresponding month of the previous year, the unemployment rate was 10.0 percent.

The number of unemployed people decreased to 190,900 in February from 192,900 in the preceding month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 214,300.

The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15 to 24 age group, came in at 20.1 percent in February, down from 20.3 percent at the start of the year.
