Malta’s EU measure of inflation accelerated in February after slowing in the previous three months, figures from the National Statistics Office showed Monday.

The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, rose 1 percent after climbing 0.8 percent in January.

Inflation accelerated mainly due to higher prices of household appliances, cigarettes and restaurant services.

Month-on-month, the HICP rose 0.6 percent in February.
