The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 were off to their worst four-days to a year as US stocks sold off further Thursday on aggravating concerns about China.
China’s trading was halted for the second time this week following another selloff 29 minutes after markets opened. The country allowed the largest drop in yuan in five, adding to trader fears about its economic condition.
The Dow ended at 16,514.1, down 2.32%. The Nasdaq composite closed at 4,689.43, down 3.03%. The S&P 500 stood at 1,943.09, down 2.37%.
Investors were awaiting US jobs data due Friday.
