Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir cautioned Iran not use the economic benefits of the nuclear deal to fund “adventures in the region.”
In remarks to the press following a meeting today with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry at the Department of State in Washington, Minister Al-Jubeir said, “All of us in the region want to see a peaceful resolution to Iran’s nuclear program.”
“We all look forward to an agreement that prevents Iran from acquiring a nuclear capability, that has a robust and continuous inspections regime to make sure that Iran does not violate the terms of the agreement, and that has an effective and quick snapback provision that allows the re-imposition of sanctions against Iran should it violate the terms of that agreement.”
“If Iran should try to cause mischief in the region, we’re committed to confront it resolutely,” added Minister Al-Jubeir.
Minister Al-Jubeir and Secretary Kerry reiterated their firm commitment to the strong bilateral relationship.
“We both are committed to ensuring that the strong and historic and strategic relationship between the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to broaden and deepen and strengthen,” said Minister Al-Jubeir.
West are supporting Saudi Arabia’s war on the Iranian supported Yemeni rebels
Britain is transferring Paveway IV precision guided bombs originally earmarked for the Royal Air Force to Saudi Arabia to enable the Gulf state to build stocks of the weapon being used against targets in Yemen and Syria, sources here said.
The Ministry of Defence has swapped delivery positions on the production line at Raytheon UK to ensure the Saudi Royal Air Force has weapon stocks to continue strike missions with the highly accurate 500-pound bomb.
An official Saudi source said today that the Kingdom has always been in favor of an agreement between Iran and the P5+1 Group that would prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. The agreement must include a specific, strict and sustainable inspection regime of all Iranian sites, including military sites, as well as a mechanism to swiftly re-impose effective sanctions in the event that Iran violates the agreement.
The source confirmed that Saudi Arabia agrees with the P5+1 Group and the international community in continuing the sanctions on Iran for its support of terrorism and its violations of international arms treaties.
Under the nuclear deal, Iran has to use its resources for domestic development and to improve the living conditions of its people rather than use it to incite turmoil in the region, which would only be met with harsh and determined responses from the countries of the region.
The source concluded by saying that since Iran is a neighboring country, the Kingdom is looking forward to build the best of relations in all fields on the principle of good neighborliness and non-interference in the affairs of others.
