British domestic demand and household spending are expected to remain strong, Bank of England Governor Mark Carney said in an interview with the Gazette, a regional newspaper, on Friday.

“The UK economy is one of the strongest of the advanced economies and we continue to see strong domestic demand and households spending money because real incomes are growing,” he said.

Carney noted that global growth has been weak for some time and in the last year or so growth in emerging markets has started to weaken further so a lot of commodity prices have come off and that has a knock-on effect into this region.
