French consumer prices rose as expected in June, preliminary data from the statistical office Insee showed Thursday.

Consumer prices grew 0.2 percent year-on-year in June after stabilizing in the previous month. The increase was driven by a smaller fall in energy prices.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent in June, slightly weaker than a 0.2 percent rise forecast by economists..

Year-on-year, the harmonized index of consumer prices advanced 0.3 percent, as expected, but faster than the 0.1 percent rise in the previous month.

Data showed that the HICP gained 0.2 percent over the previous month, matching economists’ expectations.

Another report from Insee revealed that producer prices in industry for the French market rebounded 0.3 percent in May from April, when it dropped 0.4 percent, mainly due to refined petroleum products.

From May 2015, producer prices dropped 3.5 percent.

On all markets, producer prices moved up 0.3 percent month-on-month, offsetting a 0.3 percent fall in April. Year over year, prices decreased by 3.3 percent.
