French producer prices continued to decline in October, largely due to cheaper prices of coke and refined petroleum products, figures from the statistical office INSEE showed Friday.

Producer prices in the French market dropped 2.5 percent year-over-year in October, following a 2.6 percent decrease in the previous month.

The annual decline in October was mainly driven by a 32.0 percent sharp fall in the prices of coke and refined petroleum products.

On a monthly basis, producer prices edged up 0.2 percent in October, after showing no variations in the preceding month.

Prices for mining and quarrying products, energy and water continued to grow whereas prices for refined petroleum products and for other manufactured products declined anew, the agency said.

The producer price index for all markets slid 2.0 percent in October from a year ago, while it rose 0.1 percent from September.

Import prices dipped 5.8 percent and yearly and by 0.4 percent monthly in October.
