Germany’s consumer price inflation accelerated for the third straight month in April at a faster than initially estimated pace, final data from Destatis showed Wednesday.

The consumer price index climbed 0.5 percent year-over-year in April, revised from a 0.4 percent increase estimated earlier. In March prices had risen 0.3 percent.

The latest rate of inflation was the highest since November last year, when prices grew 0.6 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices remained unchanged in April, while it was estimated to fall by 0.1 percent, after a 0.5 percent increase in the previous month.

The EU measure of inflation, the harmonized index consumer prices went up 0.3 percent annually in April, confirming the preliminary report. In March, prices had risen 0.1 percent.

Month-on-month, the HICP edged down 0.1 percent in April, matching the flash estimate, following a 0.5 percent hike in the prior month.

In a separate report, the statistical office announced that wholesale prices declined at a slower pace of 0.9 percent yearly in April, after a 1.1 percent decrease in March.

On a monthly basis,wholesale prices climbed 0.4 percent in April, slower than previous month’s 1.0 percent rise. It was the third successive monthly increase.
