Malaysia’s unemployment rate held steady for the second straight month in September, figures from the Department of Statistics showed Wednesday.

The jobless rate came in at 3.2 percent in September, the same rate as in the previous two months. In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 2.7 percent.

At the same time, the seasonally adjusted jobless rate dropped marginally to 3.2 percent in September from 3.3 percent in August.

The number of unemployed people increased to 460,600 in September from 453,600 in the preceding month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 377,200.

The labor force participation rate rose to 67.9 percent in September from 67.8 percent a month earlier.
