The British pound retreated from early highs against the other major currencies in the late Asian session on Friday.
The pound fell to 1.3959 against the U.S. dollar and 157.21 against the yen, from an early 2-day high of 1.4013 and a 3-day high of 158.18, respectively.
Against the euro and the Swiss franc, the pound edged down to 0.7923 and 1.3791 from early highs of 0.7888 and 1.3840, respectively.
If the pound extends its downtrend, it is likely to find support around 1.38 against the greenback, 1.54 against the yen, 0.80 against the euro and 1.36 against the franc.
