Slovakia’s consumer confidence improved for the second straight month in September, though slightly, figures from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted consumer confidence index rose to -14.8 in September from -15.4 in August. In July, the reading was -18.4.

The index rose slightly in September mainly owing to a decrease on concerns over the expected economic situation in the country and the expected unemployment, the agency said.

At the same time, the economic sentiment dropped marginally to 99.0 in September from 99.1 in the preceding month.

The industrial confidence indicator worsened notably to 0.7 in September from 4.7 in August, while construction confidence rose to -3.0 from -9.5.

The index measuring confidence in the services sector strengthened to 8.3 in September from 7.3 a month earlier. In contrast, the retail trade confidence index dropped to 12.3 from 15.0.
