Turkey’s foreign trade deficit decreased in November from a year ago, as imports fell faster than exports, figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed Thursday.

The trade deficit narrowed to $4.2 billion in November from $8.3 billion in the corresponding month of the prior year.

Exports declined 10.2 percent year-over-year in November and imports plunged by 25.3 percent.

On a monthly basis, the seasonally and calendar-adjusted exports and imports fell by 6.8 percent and 6.3 percent, respectively in November.

In the January to November period, total trade deficit of the country came in at $57.0 billion versus $76.0 billion in the same period a year earlier.
