Last week saw the release of
earnings from most companies in the S&P 500. The results were generally
positive although a number of companies like Boeing, Caterpillar, and Tesla disappointed.
This week, the earnings season will continue. Here are the top companies to
watch.

Monday

Today, a number of leading
companies will release their earnings. AGCO, a leading supplier of agricultural
equipment will be watched. Others to be watched are Appfolio, which is a
supplier of real estate software, Baidu, Blooming Brands, Eaton, Fiserve,
Illumina, Hitachi, Akamai, Johnson Controls, PerkinElmer, RingCentral, Seagate,
SS&C, and Timken.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, the key companies
that will report are Apple, AMD, Cray, Electronic Arts, FireEye, IPG Photonics,
Ingersoll-Rand, Leidos, MKS Instruments, Maxim, Martin Marietta Materials,
National Instruments, Tenable, Waters, Zendesk, and Zynga. Of all these, focus
will be on Apple, which is going through a difficult time as iPhone sales
slowdown. This is essential because iPhone sales account for more than half of
the company’s earnings. In recent years, the company has seen its sales
continue to decline. The results come a week after Donald Trump rejected
Apple’s application for tariff exclusion for the new computers that it plans to
build in China.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, key companies that
will release are the likes of Activision Blizzard, Alamo, BAE Systems, Bruker,
Carbonite, Fair Isaac, Flowserve, Fluor, Liberty, LivePerson, MSCI,
MercadoLibre, RealPage, Rosetta stone, Rogers, Teladoc, Western Digital, and
Twilio. Of all these companies, investors will pay close attention to
Activision Blizzard, which will release its report a day after EA Sports releases.
These companies are facing increased pressure from the likes of Fortnite and
other mobile games. On Twilio, investors will want to see whether the messaging
company is continuing its growth.

Thursday

On Thursday the companies that
will be releasing their earnings are Arista Networks, Blackline, Cardtronics,
Etsy, Fortune Brands, Generac, Glu Mobile, GoDaddy, MobileIron, Motorola, Open
Text, Pinterest, Rapid7, Sabre Corpo, Shopify, Solar Winds, and Teradata among
others. Shopify will be in the spotlight after its stock has risen by more than
100%. Today, the company is valued at more than $30 billion.

Friday

On Friday, the earnings season
will fade away as only a few companies are expected to report. These are
companies like BT Group, Constellation Software, Kyocera, and The KEYW.

As the earnings season comes to
an end, investors will be watching the talks between the US and China. These
talks are scheduled to start later this week in Beijing. While the expectations
are low, investors believe that a deal could help return growth to stocks. In
addition, traders will be watching the FOMC, which will release its interest
rates decision on Wednesday.
