Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA) Should Hold $50 Despite End of Lock Up
The IPO lock on 63% of the Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA)’s total shares has expired today. Most of Alibaba’s largest shareholders including Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) and Softbank Corp (OTCMKTS:SFTBF) (TYO:9984) can now sell their shares, and many of them will.
The Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE:BABA) was substantial 1.6 billion shares, five times more than total shares sold in its public offering. Alibaba only sold 320 million shares in its IPO.
The pressure has mounted on the company, weak performance a slowing China market and now a huge jump in the float.
But still we expect the company to hold $50 as the expectations here fall in line with reality.
