Update 1:  According to ABC, Brewster County police are now confirming that 1 shooter has been killed by an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound.  A police office was also apparently shot in an accidental shooting.  Per ABC:  

The preliminary information indicates that a female student shot another female student in a bathroom and may have then taken her own life, a law enforcement source told ABC News.

The shooter died from what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds, Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson told ABC News.

The other student is still alive, Dodson said.

An officer was apparently shot as well in what appears to be an accidental shooting, he added.

 

 

 

Alpine, Texas schools are on “critical lockdown” after police confirmed two shooters at Alpine High School.  According to CBS, the Brewster County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that at least 1 person has been injured and 2 shooters are believed to be on the loose.

The injured student has been transported to a local hospital but his/her condition is still unknown at this time.

High school students are being held until an all clear is given by police.

The Big Bend Regional Medical Center states that no deaths have been reported at this time.

Alpine, Texas is a community of about 6,500 people roughly 200 miles southeast of El Paso.  The Alpine school district has roughly 1,000 students.
