The construction sector in Australia moved further into contraction territory in June, the latest survey from the Australian Industry Group showed on Tuesday, with a Performance of Construction Index score of 46.4.

That’s down from 47.8 in May, and it slides more sharply beneath the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

The index has contracted in seven of the last eight months, while the three-month moving average has fallen to 47.1.

Activity, new orders, employment and deliveries were the key drags.
