The construction sector in Australia continued to expand in September, albeit at a slower pace, the latest survey from the Australian Industry Group showed on Wednesday with a Performance of Construction Index score of 51.9.

That’s down from 53.8 in August, although it remains well above the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

Among the individual components, apartment building activity again expanded solidly and house building activity also continued to expand – although engineering construction activity fell further into negative territory.

Across the construction industry, activity, new orders and employment all increased in September.
