Consumer confidence in Australia surged in November, the latest survey from Westpac Bank revealed on Wednesday as its index climbed 3.9 percent to a reading of 101.7.

That follows the 4.2 percent jump to 97.8 in October, and it moves above the 100-point mark that separates optimism from pessimism.

It also marks the highest reading for the index since May.
