The total number of job ads in Australia increased in April, after falling for the first time in ten months in March, the latest survey from the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group revealed Monday.
Total job ads rose by a seasonally adjusted 2.3 percent month-over-month in April, reversing a 1.3 percent fall in the previous month.
“After slipping lower in March, job advertisements posted a solid rebound in April, and now sit at the highest level in two and a half years,” ANZ Chief Economist Warren Hogan, said.
The increase in April was driven by internet job ads, which climbed 2.4 percent from the prior month. At the same time, newspaper ads fell by 2.5 percent.
On an annual basis, job ads climbed at a faster pace of 7.3 percent in April, following a 6.6 percent growth in the preceding month.
